Android Tethering with PDAnet

To make this post a little more real, I just turned off my laptop WIFI and started tethering my Google DROID.  I have to first say that setting up tethering on my ANDROID phone was so easy it kinda hurt a little bit.  You go to a market place, download a FREE application (accepted application in the market), run a couple steps and BAM. No Jail breaking, no worrying about rooting your phone, just so easy and safe.  Here is a link to the application I used and feel free to let me know if there is a better one. Its called PdaNet in the market:

PdaNet - Android Tethering

Here is a link to a YouTube video with complete instructions on getting tethering going (Note: This example uses Droid but I am sure it will work for other Android platforms)

I am laying in bed right now and here is my http://reviews.cnet.com/internet-speed-test/ bandwidth test result: 1191.6 kbps! Not to shabby at all. Its actually a little bit faster than my WiFi from my bedroom (A little ways away from my home office WiFi).

Pros:

I can now have internet anywhere my phone does with no extra costs for WiFi.  USB and Bluetooth tethering.  It can access Verizon 3G without paying for the cost of a Verizon Wireless Mobile Modem. More ammo for the Android users to throw at the Mac iPhone dweebs :)

Cons:

You cannot WiFi tether without rooting your android device :(.
