Connect Flex 3 and Facebook with Adobe Supported ActionScript 3.0 Client Library for Facebook Platform API

Facebook , ActionScript , Flex - Author:John Gag at 10:21 AM 2 Comments »

Adobe and facebook have just come out with a new ActionScript Library API to connect flex and facebook.  It looks pretty cool and I recommend poking around at the development center located here:

http://www.adobe.com/devnet/facebook/

They have even supplied an easy step by step article to get started which can be found here:

I am going to have to play with this on my spare time that does not exist! :)

Internet Explorer Debugging with DebugBar

- Author:John Gag at 1:15 PM 4 Comments »

Last friday Internet Explorer caused me some huge headaches (If you couldn't tell from my post).  While searching for a FireBug alternative I came across DebugBar for Internet Explorer.

It seems to be the best solution for debugging all forms of IE.  You should check it out if you do not have it already.  Ofcoarse I would love to know an alternative if a better one is out there.

Hopefully some of the headaches can be resolved a little more quickly!

To set the width or height of a component to a percentage in ActionScript use percentWidth instead of just Width.

Example:

lineChart.percentWidth=100;

Just a little quick hitter for anyone that may not know.

I try not to blog too much about Blackberry or iPhone but Beejive is just too cool not to blog about.  If you have a Blackberry or iPhone and have just about every instant messenger account like myself (AIM®, iChat®, MobileMe®, MSN®/Windows Live®, Yahoo!®, MySpace, GoogleTalk®, ICQ®, & Jabber) you must get Beejive.  Do not believe me? Download and try for yourself:

Mango Blog shareMe Plugin (Beta)

Mango Blog , ColdFusion - Author:John Gag at 1:54 AM 4 Comments »

I decided to make a quick plugin that displays links to share a post.  Mark Aplet has already done this in a custom tag but I thought it would be an easy plugin.  Unfortunately I ran out of time tonight so here is just a beta version.  In the next release you will be able to decide which share icons you would like to display.  The custom tag is a lot more functional right now as you can just comment out whatever tags you do not want.  But here is the start if you care to try it out.
